Over the years, I’ve taken a lot of family photos, and while mom’s usually want everyone looking at the camera for at least one photo, I find that my favorite images are always the ones where I can capture them showing their personalities, laughing, being shy, or doing whatever it is that makes them happy. Do you love the look of a family session at a lavender field, but can't stand the idea of the summer heat? You are in luck, because I am about to tell you the best tip there is for portraits in the summer: A sunrise photo session!
This really applies for any season and any location, if you are the type of person that does not like to be photographed in front of a lot of people. But, when you love lavender blooms and want your photos at a lavender field, you’ll have to be ready to either suffer the heat of June or you may want to get up early and start your session as soon as the sun rises.

Rachel did the planning of her Nashville-Spring-Wedding herself, with lots of help from family and friends. Purple and lavender tones highlighted the details of their spring wedding. They became husband and wife under a chuppah, luckily installed indoors, since the day was full of spring showers. Rachel was excited about seeing Tyler’s face when walking down the aisle in her dress, so they chose not to see each other before the ceremony. But we escaped to the nearby Centennial Park to grab some portraits of the couple afterwards. Tyler and Rachel were able to celebrate their wedding day with some of their close friends and family, and I was so happy to document it for them with my photography.

I am so glad Lisa found me while searching in Google for a Nashville wedding photographer! When she hired me to be their photographer, I invited them to join us for a mini-session event I was about to host for Valentine’s Day “Love is in the air” at a modern farm house on Narrows of the Harpeth. They came to have some portraits taken, and I wished Miller and I had booked the house for longer, because we had to cut our conversation short to clean up before closing. It was a very cold winter day, our hands were purple after the quick session outdoors, but we had a great time and we had some wine, Valentine cookies, and a lively conversation.
